Subject interactions with the surrounding

April 29, 2010

(I shot this by the meatpack district with a white bounce umbrella on camera right.)

I shot this for Libby, a down to earth actress from Los Angeles.  With all locational shoots, just be aware of how your subject will interact with the surrounds/background.  In this case, she just did simple poses with the doorway but think about what your subject could do in that surrounding.  The other thing is don’t place the subject where things look like they are coming of out their head.  In this case, I wanted to make sure that brass plate on the door wasn’t too close to her head looking like it was sticking out of her head.
